Mr A Abdul Salam, Managing Director of M/S Kaikara Construction Company, Kollam, is an epitome of hard work, dedication and motivation. His tireless hard work did achieve him a pioneer position in the field of construction at the national level and carried out the works costing more than 100 crores of rupees in the past 30 years or so.
He began his career in a simple and humble way by accumulating accessories from scraps and installed a workshop called “Kaikara Engineering Workshop”.

His sheer participation and involvement in the field have attracted many bus and lorry owners to avail the workshop services. The workshop gradually developed into fully recognized engineering workshop.
He had started thinking of spreading his business and got valuable bus route permits through the Honorable High Court. Accordingly, a bus service started in the name of “Kaikara Motor Services” and acquired over five buses on its name. He had then tried his luck in the boat services field and owned a yard and a major workshop for maintenance of engine boats in a big way and carried on for a period over 20 years successfully.
‘His never say die’ attitude did not hold him at one place but taken too many new ventures which normally invites many risks and inhibitions. But, he is not the person to surrender to such circumstances and successfully prevailed over all such challenges. Subsequently, he had started the oil services called “Kaikara Petroleum Products” and owned two tanker Lorries to transport petrol and oil to his own petrol pump at Kottarakkara, in Kollam District. He also owned two dredgers during this period and positioned at Kochi.
In the meantime, he was targeting to spread the businesses which invite more challenges than the usual one and opted to enter into the field of major constructions. He entered into various constructions since 1981 and inducted the ‘Kaikara Construction Company -Kollam” in 1991. He started handling several major works in PWD, Irrigation, Harbor Engineering Departments, National Highways and several public sectors undertaking in the individual capacity.
His immaculate workmanship and its positive way of completing the works are highly appreciated. The company has been awarded major works for the centrally sponsored integrated Port Development Projects in Kerala.
